Week 52

I guess I should put something in here for the last week, eh?

I was messing around with a Lens Baby attachment I have had since I got that lens this summer, but never used. It converts the standard 50mm lens into either a wide-angle lens, or a macro lens. Not sure on the specs, but I think it's something like 20mm and 80mm, respectively. Anyway, it seems like it would be fun to play with more. I was just shooting from my computer in my living room. Oh, and the macro part of it? It's seriously about macro. Nothing was in focus until I got at least 3" from the subject. Maybe closer.
The wide-angle "lens". I couldn't get anything to focus, so I'll have to play with this one some more.

Same shot as above, actually. Just with the macro lens. I had no idea I had to be so close to the subject, so I was worried I couldn't get anything to be even remotely close to in focus.

Cute little ornament.

Glittery tree decoration.

I love how abstract this is.

My husband actually took this one. I like it.

All pictures taken with the LensBaby, ISO 3200, f/4, 1/30 sec.

Week 49

I'm totally skipping ahead. What are you going to do about it? Actually, this should count for multiple past weeks, since these are from my darkroom class. But whatevs.

After shooting two rolls of film, I decided on a theme. It made shooting a little easier at times, but a little harder at times. I wanted a portfolio that was cohesive, and not just a bunch of random pictures. I decided on "Between Ether and Substance". I wanted all the pictures to have an abstract and/or surreal quality to them.

I had a lot of fun being back in the darkroom and am probably going to re-enroll next quarter.

As I think I've said before, my scanner is pretty crappy. Nevermind that.

Do you have a favorite?

week 48

Wow. Totally behind. I'm not going to try and pretend I will catch up. I will, however, blame my behind-ness on the fact that I have been taking a darkroom techniques class at the community college and have been busy there. Once my portfolio is complete, I will scan and upload those pictures here. In the meantime, here is a faux tilt-shift picture of New York City.

I love this effect, but cannot afford the real deal, so Photoshop, it is!

Week 34

A couple years ago, I went up to British Columbia. Just north of Vancouver are some breathtaking views of mountains and a huge lake (maybe more of a sound?). I vowed to get better at landscape photography so I could take some decent pictures.

I've come a long way in my skillz, but I still have a lot to learn. I'm pretty happy with the way these turned out. I just got a neutral density filter and used it in pretty much all of these pictures. I can't wait to play with it some more (especially with water). The only main thing I wish I could change was having a clean sensor on my camera. I got home and opened the files and was horribly disappointed to see dirty spots everywhere. So I ended up spending way too much time editing these pictures.

Week 32

I went to Bainbridge Island last weekend with my new Lensbaby. To put it simply, I love it. It's so dreamy, and in a lot of these instances, it had the same effect as a tilt-shift lens.
